Charles Spetka is a member of the Board of Managers and serves as Chief Executive Officer of CW Financial Services (CWFS), which is comprised of CWCapital LLC (CW), CWCapital Investments (CWCI), CWCapital Asset Management (CWCAM) and Rockwood Real Estate Advisors. In this capacity, Mr. Spetka provides strategic and operational direction for the businesses of CWFS and its subsidiaries.
Mr. Spetka became CEO of CW Financial Services in January, 2009. Joining the CW Companies in 2003, he served as President of CWCI and CWCAM. Mr. Spetka spearheaded the substantial growth of these entities, now an industry leader in asset management and investment management of commercial real estate debt products. Mr. Spetka led the team in creating CWCAM through the acquisitions of $1 billion Allied Capital real estate investment platform and the $300 million CRIIMI MAE mortgage REIT. As a result, CWCAM has become one of the country’s premier special servicing and asset management operations.
In 2010, Mr. Spetka led an exhaustive search for a strategic partner, culminating in a transaction with Fortress Investment Group, a leading global investment management company with approximately $44.6 billion of assets under management. Fortress offers both alternative and traditional investment strategies for institutional and private investors worldwide.
Prior to joining CWFS, Mr. Spetka spent seven years with GMACCM as a founder and Managing Director of GMAC Institutional Advisors (GIA). There he led the acquisition of Hanford/Healy, which was the building block of GMAC’s Special Services business. He was also responsible for developing the Fund Management Business and CDO platform. Prior to joining GMACCM, Mr. Spetka was a trader at Goldman Sachs where he specialized in CMBS, HUD project loans and commercial performing and non-performing loans.
Mr. Spetka received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of North Carolina.
