David Iannarone joined CW Financial Services (CW) in 2006 and serves as President of CWCapital Asset Management (CWCAM). Mr. Iannarone also serves as a member of the Board of Managers of CW, and is member of the Executive Committee, a six member team responsible for providing strategic direction to CW and its subsidiaries. In these capacities, he is responsible for the oversight and strategic development of the company’s $160 billion special servicing portfolio. During his tenure as President, CWCAM has grown to be the second largest special servicing operation in the country, with assignments representing over 20% of the US CMBS market.
Mr. Iannarone is a 20-year veteran of the CMBS and commercial real estate industries. Prior to joining CW, Mr. Iannarone was Director of Capital Markets for Allied Capital Corporation, a publicly traded finance corporation. In this capacity, he managed the company’s securitization activities, including corporate and real estate debt products. Prior to joining Allied Capital, Mr. Iannarone served as General Counsel and later as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at CRIIMI MAE Inc. While at CRIIMI MAE, Mr. Iannarone pioneered a variety of innovative initiatives, including the first ever CRE CDO of non-investment grade CMBS. He also led the company through its successful Chapter 11 reorganization. Mr. Iannarone also held positions at the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), where he pioneered CMBS and the packaging and selling of distressed assets, as well as at Citibank and the law firm of Kaye Scholer, et. al.
With his tenure and experience, Mr. Iannarone is considered an industry expert at real estate workouts and the effective navigation of turbulent real estate cycles. He is a frequent guest lecturer on the vagaries of the real estate market and has played a leadership role in shaping the recovery of the industry in past economic crises.
Mr. Iannarone received a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College, a Juris Doctorate from University of Villanova Law School and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law School.
